Cristiano Ronaldo has added another milestone to his illustrious career, scoring twice in Portugal’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their second group stage of the FIFA 2026 World Cup to become the first player in history to score in six different FIFA World Cups.

Ronaldo, who made his World Cup debut in 2006, has now found the net at every tournament he has played, setting a new record. Before the match, he shared the mark of scoring in five World Cup editions with Lionel Messi, but the Portuguese captain has now moved clear.

The 41-year-old also reached 10 World Cup goals, overtaking the late Eusebio’s tally of nine to become Portugal’s outright leading scorer in World Cup history.

At 41 years and 138 days old, Ronaldo moved into second place on the list of the oldest players to score at a World Cup, behind only Roger Milla, who scored for Cameroon at the age of 42 years and 39 days.

Portugal secured their first win of the tournament after a difficult start against DR Congo. Nuno Mendes, Ronaldo and Rafael Leao were among the scorers as Roberto Martinez’s side cruised to victory.

The result leaves qualification from the group finely poised, with places in the knockout stage set to be decided on the final matchday.
