…Top Group B with 7 pts ahead TP Mazembe

Debutant ASEC Mimosas on Saturday qualified for the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League ahead of title holders TP Mazembe.

The Ivorians thrashed Botswana’s Gaborone United 4-0 to go top of Group B on seven points and secured their spot in the last four of the ongoing Women’s Champions League.

ASEC Mimosas needed a draw to qualify, removed all doubt with a brace apiece from Ami Diallo and Habibou Ouedraogo to finish on seven points from three matches and advance as group winners.

With the win, ASEC emerged as the first Ivorian club to reach the Women’s Champions League semi-finals and the fifth West African side to make the last four in the competition’s history.

They will take strong momentum into the knockouts after an opening-day win over Mazembe and a draw with JKT Queens.

ASEC are unbeaten in the group stage (W2 D1) and scored four second-half goals across their three matches.

Diallo broke the deadlock on 30 minutes, turning in Ouedraogo’s cut-back.

She doubled the lead three minutes after the restart, finishing a sweeping move to put ASEC firmly in control.

Ouedraogo struck twice at the death, first on 84 minutes and again in stoppage time, to complete a commanding display and secure top spot for the debutants from Côte d’Ivoire.

Gaborone United depart without a win; ASEC’s victory marked West Africa’s second group-stage success over Southern African opposition in the past two editions.

ASEC now turn their focus to the semi-finals, carrying the confidence of a landmark qualification and a forward line in clinical form.

Title holders TP Mazembe joined the Ivorians in the last four after beating JKT Queens 4-1 to emerge second on six points.
