Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey scored his first goal of the season to secure Fulham a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.
The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute through Adama Traore’s creative brilliance. Rather than driving to the byline, Traore cut inside onto his left foot and curled a precise cross to the back post, where Emile Smith Rowe evaded Morato and Ola Aina to head home.
Forest responded eight minutes before halftime, courtesy of Chris Wood’s superb centre-forward play. The New Zealand striker latched onto a long pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, cleverly turned back, and curled a low effort into the net, aided by a deflection off Bassey.
Fulham dominated the second half, with Raul Jimenez and the influential Traore both going close. The breakthrough finally came in the 62nd minute when Bassey rose highest at the back post to meet Jimenez’s flick-on from a corner, powering his header past Matz Sels.
The victory lifted Fulham to eighth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, while Nottingham Forest remain just three points above Pep Guardiola’s side.
