Anthony Joshua‘s trainer, Ben Davison, believes a long-awaited showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury is still possible, despite Fury’s recent retirement from boxing.
In January, Fury announced his retirement following a second consecutive defeat to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in December.
His decision appeared to rule out a long-anticipated clash with Joshua, but Fury’s history of reversing retirement announcements keeps hope alive.

“I think there’s more chance of it happening now than ever,” Davison told Oddschecker. “With the introduction of Riyadh Season and their relationship with both sides, bringing all the broadcasters together, it’s the fight boxing fans want to see.”
A Joshua-Fury matchup would pit two of Britain’s top heavyweights against each other, with their contrasting personalities adding to the excitement.
Davison stressed the significance of the fight, not only for the sport but for both fighters’ legacies.
“It’s a legacy-defining fight for them both. I always say it’s crucial to have a dance partner, and they’ve been each other’s for long enough now. It’s the fight everyone wants to see.”
While Fury’s return remains uncertain, Joshua is working on his next move after suffering a knockout loss to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September.
His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has hinted at big plans, but no official announcement has been made regarding when the 35-year-old former champion (28-4) will return to the ring.
