Alamuwa Boys lifts GTBank/Ogun Principal’s Cup

Alamuwa Boys Grammar School, Ado-Odo has lifted the maiden edition of GTBank/Ogun State Principal cup, after managing a lone-goal victory against Remo Divisional High School,Sagamu in a keenly contested final played at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, the State capital.

Both sides in the opening half of the thrilling encounter had treated soccer fans which included Governor Ibikunle Amosun,his wife Olufunso,State Youth and Sports Commissioner,Gbenga Otenuga and other top government functionaries to beautiful display in an attempt to outclass themselves.

Samson Oke’s goal within ten minutes of the second half was all the Alamuwa Grammar School side needed as theydefended the lone-goal advantage till the last minute of the tension soaked final and pocketed the ultimate prize of one million naira courtesy Guaranty Trust Bank Plc,beating Remo boys to second position with N750,000 while Adeola Odutola College,Ijebu-Ode emerged third with a prize money of N500,000

Orile Ilugun Girls Comprehensive High School, Odeda were very hot for Our L ady of Apostle, Ijebu-Ode side to handle as they struck twice in each of the halves through Ibidun Tosin to clinch the female category trophy and the competition’s one million naira prize money, while Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu won the third place match against Community High School, Abule-Iroko from Yewa division of the state.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun commended Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. for the partnership support to the administration’s initiative at discovering talents through school sports competitions and other catch them young programmes and called on children to be always disciplined.

Amosun urged other corporate organizations to emulate the GTBank’s gesture by sponsoring sporting competitions aiming at discovering more talents and developing the sports sector in the state and country at large.
