Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised Dr. Fene Osakwe for his historic nomination as the first African for the Cyber Personality of the Year award in the United Kingdom.
This award recognizes individuals who have exhibited outstanding leadership, advocacy, and expertise in the field of cybersecurity. It celebrates those who have established themselves as thought leaders and made significant contributions to the industry, thereby enhancing its visibility and supporting the development of others.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Cyber Security Awards have acknowledged exceptional individuals, teams, and organizations within the global cybersecurity sector. This independent initiative operates devoid of affiliations with any magazines, organizations, or products, allowing the judging panel to base their evaluations entirely on merit.
Dr. Osakwe stands as the sole African nominee in this category, competing against distinguished leaders from eleven other nations. His leadership, ambition, and innovative strategies in cybersecurity over the past decade have earned him international recognition. He has authored numerous influential articles for prominent platforms such as Forbes and has served as a leading figure in cybersecurity research and publications.
In early 2024, Dr. Osakwe received an invitation to join the Global Advisory Board for Penetration Testing by EC-Council, which is recognized as the largest certification body for information security professionals globally. Furthermore, he became a member of the Forbes Technology Council in 2021. As a keynote speaker at prominent cybersecurity conferences in both Europe and Africa in 2024, his presentations have been commended for their insightful content and educational value.
