Oyo police confirms Killing of PDP chieftain in Ibarapa

Oyo State Police Command Saturday confirmed the killing of Fatai Aborode, a Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.

Aborode was killed by unknown gunmen while leaving his farm on Friday evening.

In a statement, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Olugbenga Fadeyi disclosed this on Saturday

According to him, at about 1750 hrs of 11/12/2020, along Apodun road Igangan, one Fatai Aborode ‘m’ of Igangan, was robbed and shot by four unknown gunmen, the victim was rushed to Olugbon hospital Igboora where he was confirmed dead”.

He said that “Effort is on to arrest the fleeing assailants.

It had been earlier reported that some unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked both Fatai Aborode and his manager while leaving his farm on a motorbike at about 4 pm on Friday.

He was said to have died in between Tapa and Aiyete Community as a result of severe injuries sustained during the attack that was launched on him by his attackers while being rushed to hospital at Igboora.

Fadeyi however stated that all efforts are in place to arrest the fleeing assailants.
