Power Oil health project gets Federal Ministry of Women Affairs’ endorsement

In recognition of the efforts and achievements of the Power Oil healthy heart mission project Pan Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has endorsed the life impacting programme while promising to render the needed support as long as the brand continues in the mission to put the interest of the society first.

This was disclosed during the official flag off ceremony at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, which had top officials of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Power Oil, representatives from different Non-governmental organisations and staff of different Ministries in attendance.

Annetu-Anne Aliu, director, Women & Gender Affairs, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, officially declared the free medical check activity open to the public by checking her MI and blood pressure first.

“I am particularly pleased with the objectives of this flag off which will be addressing some challenges faced by women, the aged and other vulnerable groups as regards various heart related diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Body Mass Index and other heart related challenges,” she said in her speech.

Continuing, Aliu said, “Also worthy of Commendation is the fact that Raffles Oil Enterprise makers of Power Oil, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, and in line with the Federal Government Public Private Partnership Policies had conducted a survey which revealed that high percentage of lives, Nigerian women in particular had been lost due to lack of awareness in getting and accessing basic medical information and regular health check-ups.”

Speaking during the event, Omotayo Azeez-Abiodun, public relations manager, Power Oil, expressed delight at the partnership.

“Power Oil health outreach programme has been consistently going on for more than three years at various states across the nation, and we are delighted to eventually get the attention and support of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, this clearly shows we are moving on the right track.”

Azeez-Abiodun also added, ‘‘the organisation is confident and hopes that the partnership will go a long way to benefit and bring about healthy wellbeing of all members of the families in Nigeria.

According to the plan, the two bodies will work together for three years to cover different Local Government Areas in the City by providing the opportunity for people to check their Blood Pressure, Pulse/Visceral fat level, Body Mass Index and other medical consultation from the medical consultants assigned to each camp team.

Power Oil Health Camp, a corporate social responsibility initiative from the staple of Raffles Oil LFTZ Enterprise, makers of Power Oil, kicked off in 2013 and has recently expanded into 16 locations Pan Nigeria.
