The Kano State Government on Friday distributed instructional materials worth over N360 million to primary and secondary schools in the state.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who presented the materials in Kano, said the materials included cartons of literacy and numeric books, educational curriculum and teachers and head teachers guide books.
Others items are 136 computer sets, 10, 000 classroom desk and 54 motor cycles among others.
He said that the materials would aid in the learning and teaching process.
He appealed to teachers to complement government efforts by giving students quality lessons and urged parents to take interest in the education of their wards.
He also urged wealthy individuals in the state to contribute their quota in the development of education in the state.
Mallam Zakari Bagwai, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB, commended the state government for the gesture and expressed hope that the materials would boost teachers’ and students performance.
He said that the state government was determined to improve the quality of human resources in the education sector for effective teaching and learning in schools.
Reports that the distribution of the items was part of the week-long activities organised by the state ministry of education and education promotion committee to mark the state basic education week.
