Oyo technical varsity to be best in Nigeria, says Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has assured that the newly established Technical University, Ibadan would be the best not only in Nigeria but in Africa.

The new university is in technical partnership with Texas Technical University where students are expected to spend the last two years of their programme after spending the first two years in Ibadan.

The governor while receiving a delegation from Texas Technical University, USA, who paid him a visit in his office in Ibadan at the week-end, said the concept of the new university was developed by some of the best brains in Africa, with inputs from experts from Texas Technical University.

Ajimobi added that the state government has also employed the services of one of the best architects in the world for the architectural design of the institution.

According to the governor, the return visit of the team less than three weeks of his visit to Texas was a mark of commitment and professionalism of the American university towards the establishment of the institution.

In his remarks, the associate vice-provost of Texas Technical University, Gary Elbow, said he was highly impressed with the level of commitment of the Ajimobi administration to the university.
