Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state has vowed to commission and open up for use by September, the N21 billion-model schools built across the 20 Local Government Councils in the state, saying 15 out of 28 boarding house-inclusive model secondary schools initiated by his administration will be delivered by the beginning of 2013/2014 school session.

Governor Amosun, who led a team of pressmen and government officials to one of such schools in Ijebu-Ode at the weekend, said that the idea of building model schools was prompted by the agitation and requests of the controllers and boards of missionary schools in the state for the return of their schools earlier controlled and funded by government.

He however said that the agitation and request of the missioners were a blessing in disguise as it had given government opportunity to build and own schools that favourably compete with so-called best schools anywhere at little or no tuition fees.
