The Lagos Business School as part of its drive to give MBA students the desired global competitive advantage will soon launch a Careers Portal that will aid transaction between students and the institution.

Nubi Achebo, MBA director, Lagos Business School disclosed this in his address at the 10th career fair organised by the school recently in Lagos.

Achebo pointed out that as the talent war heats up globally, companies are looking for good talent anywhere. Multinational companies are expanding into Nigeria while Nigerian companies are expanding into other parts of the world.

He said with the unveiling of the portal, it will create an interaction familiarity that is beneficial to companies and LBS MBA participants.

According to him, “Even though the Career Fair is an annual meeting point for us, it is by no means the only contact point. We have strategic partnership with many of the brands and we keep expanding this kind of partnership.

“The partnership enables companies and Lagos Business School to develop long range goals of involvement. In this partnership, companies get to know our students even before internship and full time employment because of the many planned joint activities.”

The MBA director further disclosed that Lagos Business School is the first port of call for many national and multinational companies, adding that the school would like to develop and strengthen partnerships so partner companies will have hiring preference as a sign of appreciation of their support and partnership.

In his words, “It is no accident that Lagos Business is the preferred first site for recruitment in Nigeria. We have the best MBA graduates in Nigeria and the whole of sub-Saharan West Africa. Our graduates are technically competent and have the requisite soft skills to hit the ground running in an internship or full time job role.”

On her part, Enase Okonedo, dean, Lagos Business School, said LBS MBA has been carefully structured to provide a solid foundation in general management, especially suited for the young professional who aspires to a career in management.

To her, “The programme equips candidates with thorough knowledge of the main business disciplines, analytical competence and problem-solving capabilities, and is geared at successfully grooming competent and qualified managers who most importantly, also possess the right attitudes and ethical values critical for sustainable business success in this economy.”

Okonedo revealed that participating in recruiter events at LBS is a great way for companies to increase their visibility within the community and to educate their target audience on everything from company culture to available opportunities.

“While we also can work with you through our MBA Careers Office to regularly coordinate recruiter activities on a rolling basis throughout the year.
