CBSED set to become leading professional school in Nigeria


The newly established Centre for Business Studies and Enterprise Development (CBSED) based in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital will provide quality professional training that will make it rank among the leading schools for professional studies in the country.

Committed to technologically driven training, research and public policy development, the Centre which recently had its inaugural induction course for the academy of executives and administrators of the United Kingdom, the Centre seeks to provide quality professional training in business studies and to become the best enterprise development centre in Nigeria.

According to Ntiedo Umoren, a professor of decision sciences who chairs the board of the Centre, CBSED will employ its proficiency in business education to prepare students for professional examinations in various disciplines including management, finance, marketing and accountancy and other specialised courses adding that it will be a global player in business development.

“We shall also carry out generic training programmes as well as customised executive training and applied research. The team at CBSED comprises seasoned professionals and academics in all areas of business and technology backed by first class technological support,’’ he said.

Umoren who spoke in an interview said CBSED would ensure that 85 percent of its students pass every professional examination at first sitting while 90 percent of students preparing for admission into tertiary institutions pass their qualifying examinations at first sitting.

With integrity, professionalism, honesty, efficiency and pursuit of excellence as the core values, Umoren added that the emphasis would to produce “first class professionals in all business related professions and supporting entrepreneurship development’’ adding that it would also guarantee the smooth take off and full stability for every start-up supported by CBSED.

Umoren, the former director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development, University of Uyo said the Centre in addition to undertaking applied research for businesses and corporate entities in business plan development, market research, socioeconomic policy review and environmental impact assessment.
