Afreximbank opens internship programme for students

Afreximbank, two others unveil new product for procurement support

The African Export-Import Bank has begun accepting applications from African university students for its internship programme scheduled to run from June to November 2013, the Bank has announced in Cairo.

According to the announcement, the internship is being offered in recognition of the need to promote broader understanding of the problems of African trade and trade finance, as well as the principles of trade finance, especially structured trade finance which is the Bank’s operating model.

“It is expected that the interns will leave with better knowledge of the Bank’s mandate and operating model which they will put to use as they develop their careers, with direct benefits to the Bank and to trade in Africa,” said Jean-Louis Ekra, president of Afreximbank.

The internship is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are nationals of the Bank’s member states and who are aged between 20 years and 32 years. The Bank is particularly interested in candidates who are studying Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Social Sciences, Statistics or Law. The deadline for receiving the applications is 26 April 2013.

Selected candidates rotate through various departments of the Bank during their internship and write a report at the end of the programme detailing what they gained and how they intend to apply that new knowledge in promoting intra-African and extra African trade.
