Richmond Gate Estate, a lifestyle living development recently commissioned by Haven Homes, has been declared Affordable Housing Development of the Year by Real Estate Unite—one of Nigeria’s most vocal and largest real estate advocacy gathering of stakeholders seeking the growth of the sector.
Richmond Gate got this recognition along with other stakeholders in different award categories at the just concluded REU conference organized by 3Invest Limited in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre. Other nominees for this recognition were Essential Homes, Lekki Gardens, Golf Estate Port Harcourt and Grenadine Homes.
Real Estate Unite, now in its third edition, is an annual event that gathers real estate professionals to celebrate excellence in the industry and also to showcase the latest products, services and innovations from businesses in the real estate sector.
Speakers at this year’s event included the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, the state’s Commissioner of Housing, Bosun Jeje, CEO 3Invest, Ruth Obih and a host of other real estate practitioners.
Haven Homes, in a statement made available to BusinessDay, revealed that Tayo Sonuga, its MD/CEO, was also among the final nominees for the ‘Real Estate Person of the Year’ alongside Governor Fashola and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the Minister of Finance.
Sonuga thanked the organizers and sponsors of the award, saying “we are absolutely delighted to receive this award with every sense of humility and gratitude to God for the honour given to us through this Award.
“With the pedigree of the award organizers, we receive and cherish it, knowing that it comes from a generally accepted and recognised platform that represents the very test that the country’s real estate sector can offer. The award further vindicates us on our long held position that a prospective home owner does not have to spend too much money to live in luxury, and further validates our slogan of building affordable luxury homes”.
Asked how Haven Homes was striving to meet the huge demand of the two-year queue of off-plan buyers on their projects, he said, “we are coping very fine in meeting the demand of those who paid and are queuing for a home in our scheme. We work very hard and with the right men, material and resources at our disposal, we have been able to deliver each home at the specified time. Besides, our home owners would attest to the fact that what they get at the end of the day was worth waiting for”.
Haven Homes was also nominated in two other categories, the ‘Developer of the Year’ and ‘Best Residential Project’ and was the only company nationwide with more than two nominations among the finalists selected for the prestigious award ceremony.
