Nigerians who were offered houses under the National Housing Programme (NHP) but failed to make full and outright payments within the stipulated 90-day window and an additional eight-week grace period have lost out as federal government has revoked the provisional allocation.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, in a statement recently, explained that the decision to revoke those offers was in line with the terms and conditions outlined in Paragraph 2 of the Provisional Offer of Allocation Letter given to beneficiaries.

The move, it said, underscores the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, compliance, and efficient management of the housing programme.

The statement signed by Salisu Badamasi Haiba, Director of Press and Public Relations, quoted Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary, as saying that the revocation strictly targets those who failed to meet the payment requirements within the designated timeframe.

The Ministry clarified that beneficiaries who completed their payments on or before February 28, 2025, are not affected by the revocation.

These individuals have been advised to report to the Ministry to collect their Letters of Allocation and take immediate possession of their houses.

To ensure public accountability, the full list of affected individuals whose provisional housing allocations have been revoked, is available on the Ministry’s official website and will also be published in selected national newspapers during the first week of April 2025.

The Ministry stressed its commitment to providing accessible and affordable housing for Nigerians, adding that this action is part of broader efforts to streamline the allocation process for greater efficiency and fairness.

Members of the public and affected individuals have been advised to visit the Ministry’s website, consult the designated newspapers, or contact the Director of Public Buildings and Housing Development in the Ministry Headquarters, Mabushi, Abuja, for further information.
