The Lagos real estate narrative is undergoing a significant shift. While the coastal developments of the islands have long dominated headlines, a new frontier of high-yield investment is emerging in the city’s heartland.

The shift and the emerging heartland are the focus of a ‘Lagos Mainland Redevelopment Investment Summit’ to be hosted by Exclusive Estates in collaboration with BusinessDay.

The summit, already slated for May 21, 2026, in Lagos, will also take a deep dive into how Lagos’ population density is surging and how the demand for modern, efficient, and sustainable urban spaces has evolved from luxury to necessity.

“This summit serves as a strategic intervention designed to align capital with the urgent need for structured urban renewal across Lagos Mainland’s most iconic districts,” Peter Adobamen, Exclusive Estates Founder/CEO, explained in a statement at the weekend.

According to Adobamen, the summit is designed to break down the silos that often hinder large-scale development, and by convening key stakeholders across the real estate value chain, it aims to catalyse the cross-sector collaboration required for transformative urban projects.

He assured that, through its strategic partnership with BusinessDay, the summit will extend its reach to a national audience of investors and decision-makers, adding that a dedicated livestream experience will also enable diaspora investors to participate, engage with experts, and explore emerging opportunities within the evolving Mainland corridor.

“As Lagos Mainland enters a new phase of accelerated redevelopment, this summit stands as a defining platform for stakeholders ready to shape the future of urban living in Africa’s most dynamic megacity,” Adobamen noted.

Expected at the summit are developers and construction firms driving the evolution of the Mainland skyline; government and policy makers, including officials from Lagos State agencies in Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Others are financial institutions, including heads of real estate and project finance from major banks and mortgage institutions; investors, spanning institutional and individual players, and diaspora stakeholders; and brokers, legal advisors, and industry professionals who ensure efficiency and transparency across transactions.

Timothy Nubi, a Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, UNILAG, and Head, Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD), will headline speakers expected at the summit.

Others are Rabiu Mustapha, a real estate investment analyst and Co-founder of Vestiers Proptech, and senior executives and decision-makers across banking, mortgage finance, development, and public sector institutions.

A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of ‘The Definitive Lagos Mainland Real Estate Industry Report, positioned as one of the most comprehensive market intelligence publications of the year, as it offers a data-driven roadmap for investors.

The report examines how macroeconomic shifts, including banks’ recapitalisation policies and key infrastructure developments, are reshaping property valuations and unlocking redevelopment opportunities across the Mainland.

The event will culminate in an awards ceremony, recognising outstanding industry leaders, especially players in the Lagos Mainland real estate market. These awards will celebrate excellence in innovation, sustainable development, and the delivery of high-quality housing solutions that balance profitability with social impact.
