Security and insecurity in Nigeria, have been at the centre of global discourse in the last two decades. While Nigeria has one of Africa’s strongest military, contributing significantly to several peace-building efforts across the continent – Mali (2013), The Gambia (2017), Darfur-Sudan (2007-2020), among others – it has however failed to guarantee security and peace at home. It raises the question of why internal peace and security are difficult for a country that has successfully achieved them in other nations.
