Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has formally submitted his nomination form to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the APC, emerging as the party’s sole candidate for Kano State ahead of the polls.
The submission took place at the National Working Committee of the APC in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The governor was accompanied by prominent political figures from Kano, including former governor Ibrahim Shekarau; deputy Senate president Barau Jibrin; Senator Kawu Sumaila; members of the House of Representatives; and other party stakeholders.
Speaking with journalists shortly after submitting the form at Treasure Suites in Abuja, Yusuf described his bid for a second term as a renewed call to service and pledged to consolidate ongoing development projects across the state.
He said his administration would intensify urban renewal initiatives, with greater attention on road construction, drainage expansion, and modernisation of major markets across Kano.

The governor also reiterated his commitment to rural development, promising increased investments in feeder roads, water supply schemes, healthcare centres, and schools in underserved communities.
Yusuf further pledged expanded support for agriculture and youth empowerment programmes, stressing that job creation and economic opportunities for young people would remain central to his administration’s agenda.
According to him, improving education and healthcare delivery would continue to receive priority attention, while peace, unity, and inclusive governance would remain key pillars of his leadership.
He added that his administration would continue to collaborate with critical stakeholders and align with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to attract more federal projects and opportunities to Kano State.
The governor thanked residents of Kano for their continued support and confidence in his administration, assuring them of transparent governance and people-oriented policies if re-elected in 2027.
