Tinubu writes Senate to confirm Olukoyede as EFCC chairman

Between Tinubu’s blame game and governance

President Bola Tinubu has written the senate, seeking confirmation of the appointment of Ola Olukoyede as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the appointment of Muhammad Hammajoda as secretary of the commission.

The letter of the president was read by Barau Jibrin, Deputy senate president during plenary on Tuesday.

In another letter, also read by the deputy senate president, the president sought confirmation of the appointment of Halima Shehu as the national coordinator and chief executive officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The president previously appointed Delu Bulus Yakubu in September and was confirmed by the Senate. But, in the letter, the president confirmed that Yakubu’s recent appointment as senior special assistant on humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation created a vacancy in the agency.

The president urged the Senate to confirm the appointments expeditiously.
