The Supreme Court has upheld the election victory of Dapo Abiodun as the governor of Ogun State.

In the judgment delivered on Friday, Tijjani Abubakar, leading the five-member panel, dismissed the appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last elections.

“In the end, this appeal is unmeritorious and deserves to be dismissed. It is hereby dismissed,” Abubakar held.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Abiodun as winner of the Ogun governorship election in March 2023.

Dissatisfied with the election, Adebutu challenged Abiodun’s victory at the tribunal.
The tribunal and the Court of Appeal had earlier ruled in favour of Abiodun.
