Ondo Senator, Ipinsagba rejects interim management committee nominees for Akoko North East LG

Akeredolu’s aides dump Aiyedatiwa as governor shops for deputy

Reactions have continued to trail the appointment of 51 nominees to head the Interim Management Committee of the 18 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas of Ondo State being approved by the State House of Assembly.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had earlier sent the list of the nominees to the assembly for screening and during its plenary on Tuesday, they were approved by the House.

BusinessDay reports that some of the new caretaker chairmen and their deputies include; Tayo Fayanju (Chairman), Adewole Busola (Vice Chairman) for Akure North LGA, Ogunniyi Victor (Chairman), Dapo Funmi (Vice Chairman), for Igba-Otun LCDA, Gbenga Olaniyi (Chairman) Adepoju Dapo (Vice Chairman) for Akure South LGA, Smart Omotadowa (Chairman), Tope Akinfotire (Vice Chairman) for Idanre LGA, Kayode Aroloye (Chairman), Idowu Adesioye (Vice Chairman) for Idanre Central LCDA and Gbogiaran Emmanuel (Chairman) and Abiodun Adeyelu (Vice Chairman) for Akoko South South LCDA.

To this end, Senator Jide Ipinsagba (Ondo North), has however rejected the names of Nominees as Interim Management Committee members for Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.

Ipinsagba, in a statement he personally signed and made a copy available to journalists on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo state capital, said the list was contrary to the agreed nominations by the stakeholders from the local government area.

He stated that a list jointly prepared by leaders of the local government was submitted to Governor Akeredolu, which he graciously approved.

“But to my utter chagrin, the list was replaced with a purported list prepared and sponsored by someone outside the local government.

“What audacity! This is not only an affront to us as leaders but an insult and disrespect to the persons and offices of Mr. Governor and my humble self as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic.

“Let me reiterate this that decision and announcement stands rejected by me as the leader of my local government. We will not accept any names aside from the ones already submitted to Mr. Governor,” Ipinsagba said.

The Senator, however, called on the ruling APC leadership at the state level to avoid creating unnecessary crisis in the focal government area.

According to him, the people’s will should be respected and be allowed to supercede personal interests.
