Ondo: Aiyedatiwa takes over, calls for unity, prayer for Akeredolu

Ondo 2024: Oke collapses structure for Aiyedatiwa

In his first state broadcast as acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the “avoidable distractions” caused by Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s health challenges.

Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the governor’s medical leave and thanked the people for their unwavering support and prayers for Akeredolu’s swift recovery. He emphasized the need to quickly return the state to its path of progress, stating, “We must excuse unnecessary distractions. We can no longer be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We must stand together until the end.”

The acting governor further highlighted the importance of building a shared future for the state, stating, “Let us build a shared future from a divided past. We owe no less to the good people of the Sunshine State.”

Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the governor’s recent absence and the challenges it presented. He acknowledged the avoidable distractions caused by the aborted impeachment proceedings and other intrigues surrounding Akeredolu’s health situation.

He stated, “When nature sets in to hinder human performance, it is always painful. We must acknowledge that the key to a man’s well-being is in God’s hands. It is not for humans to question God but to pray for His mercies upon our lives.”

“It is in this regard that we admit with all sense of responsibility that the intrigues that ensued due to Mr. Governor’s health challenges were indeed avoidable distractions.”

He emphasized the need to move forward and continue building upon the strong foundation laid by Akeredolu during his tenure.

Aiyedatiwa concluded his address by expressing his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders for their support during this challenging period. He conveyed his optimism for the future of Ondo State and vowed to continue working towards the betterment of its people.
