Nigeria is safer under Jonathan, says Ikpeazu

Jonathan, Douglas, Olu of Warri make ‘Most Reputable Africans’ list

Okezie Ikpeazu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State, at the forthcoming general election, has observed that the unity of the country, would be retained and security assured under President Goodluck Jonathan than under Mohammad Buhari. The PDP gubernatorial hopeful in Abia, while addressing a large crowd of supporters in Isingwu community, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state that thronged the home of Onyedi Okwulehie, a PDP chieftain in the area, to offer their solidarity to his quest to succeed Governor Theodore Orji, urged electorates to consider the unity of the country before choosing a president. According to him, what should be paramount in choosing President, in the forthcoming Presidential election, is the unity and safety of Nigerians.

He pleaded with Nigerians to keep Nigeria under Jonathan’s watch. He promised to create about 5,000 jobs within his first year in office and assured the mammoth crowd that job creation would be a top priority on his agenda. Ikpeazu, described Ohuhu Land, which Isingwu is part of, as a “cradle of politics” in the South- East region, as the area produced Michael Okpara, the former premier of defunct Eastern Nigeria. He affirmed also that his government of inclusiveness would incorporate the youth. Speaking earlier, the member representing Ohuhu (Umuahia North State constituency) in the state House of Assembly, Emeka Ejiogu, said that the gathering was a covenant between the people and the PDP gubernatorial candidate and urged the people to show an adequate commitment that would drive development in the area.

He pledged that the next administration under the PDP would address the road challenges in the community, as well as equips existing health institutions in the area. Nnaji Obed Asiegbu, the special assistant to Abia State Governor on e-Governance, also appealed to the people to vote PDP in all the elections, stressing that a bounty harvest awaits them. Representatives of the community in the per-sons of Anozie Nwokoma, Ahuruchi Ibegbulem, Sam Ekeledo and Ugochukwu Ezeocha, earlier in their speech pleaded with Ik- peazu to reconstruct ac- cess roads leading to the community as well as equip the health centres in the area and create jobs for the youths of the community when elected. They, however, pledged their unalloyed support to Ikpeazu and the PDP. This is also as the Yoruba Community in the State-led by Eniola Jide, pledged their support to Ikpeazu and the PDP in Abia State.
