Mbah, Wabara, others absent as S’East PDP reaffirms Anyanwu as secretary

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South East elders and stakeholders on Tuesday reaffirmed Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the party.

The reaffirmation was done at a meeting held in Wadata plaza, where stakeholders, including Peter Mbah, Enugu Stare Governor; Adulphus Wabara, Chairman, Board of Trustees BOT and other notable elders were absent

The meeting presided over by Samuel Anyanwu and Okechukwu Osuoha, Deputy National Legal Adviser, reaffirmed Anyanwu’s position.

The meeting also reaffirmed the removal of Ali Odefa, as the PDP National Vice Chairman South East, relying on the motion by his ward in Ebonyi, and 29th November 2024, judgement by an Ebonyi Court.

In line with the 3rd December 2024 motion to nominate Chidebere Egwu as Ali Odefa’s replacement by the Ebonyi state stakeholders to serve out his tenure, the stakeholders meeting also reaffirmed Egwu as the new National Vice Chairman, South East.

In his opening remarks, Anyanwu explained how he wrote to the party that he would be absent from the party for only three months, to enable him contest for the Imo state Governorship election.

He however explained that Ali Odefa “ blackmailed me, using fake PDP election guidelines to declare my seat vacant”.

According to him, They used the fake electoral guidelines to ask me to resign from the party and declare my position as the National Secretary vacant.

Anyanwu, who stated that he was elected through a National Convention, added that “it is only through the convention that I can be removed”.

Okechukwu Osuoha, the party’s Deputy National Legal Adviser in his remarks, urged the party leaders to work for peaceful coexistence, adding that the party needs peace to confront the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, in 2027.

“We want to ensure that the administration of the party in the South East is done in accordance with the Constitution of the party”, he noted.

He stated that Ali Odefa, had been removed from office as the Deputy National Vice Chairman, South East zone and replaced by Okechukwu Egwu

Present at the meeting were State Chairmen of Imo and Abia States, Obinna Chidoka, stakeholders from the South East. Jim Nwobodo, Okezie Ikpeazu, former Abia State Governor, however, sent in their apologies.
