I should be president to fix the economy – Peter Obi

Obi’s LP sweeps Delta presidential poll

Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate has argued that his vast knowledge of the economy backed by his solutions on how to rescue and reposition it puts him in vantage position to be President of the country.

Obi stated this on Wednesday, during an interview on AriseTV, monitored by BusinessDay.

The former Anambra governor said the immediate task facing the country’s next president would be to reposition the country’s economy, stressing that the several socio-economy problems bedevilling the country now was because of the bad state of the economy.

Obi promised that if voted into power he would recruit young brilliant professionals into his cabinet to revamp the economy, create jobs and take the desired position.

“The Nigeria problem is the economy, people don’t have jobs, it is pushing them into criminality, agitations and all sorts of problems we are facing today. I would bring brilliant young people into my administration to help pull Nigeria out of poverty.

“I don’t want people to vote for me because I am from the SouthWest, SouthEast or NorthWest, I want people to vote for Peter Obi because he can pull Nigeria out of the mess it is in today,” he said.

“Yes, I will remove the fuel subsidy, but I have to offer an equivalence that will benefit the citizens but if that is not achievable, I will not remove it.
