The Electoral Committee of the All Progressives Congress for the Senate and House of Representatives primaries in Plateau State has announced winners of the party’s primaries conducted across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party stakeholders and journalists at the APC secretariat in Jos on Tuesday night, Stella Okotete, the Chairman of the committee said the exercise was conducted peacefully, freely and in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
Okotete declared Beni Lar winner of the Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency ticket, while Yusuf Adamu Gagdi emerged victorious for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency.
Other winners announced include Jeo Dashe for Mikang/Shendam/Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency, Musa Dachung Bagos for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Abubakar Sadiq Plaza for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Ishaya Lalu for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Idris Maje for Wase Federal Constituency and Dalyop Chollom, Barkin Ladi/Riyom federal constituency.
The outcome of the primaries saw four incumbent members of the House of Representatives lose their re-election bids in the APC contest, signaling a major political shake-up within the party in Plateau State.
For the senatorial districts, the committee announced Simon Mwadkwon as winner of the Plateau North Senatorial ticket, Bitrus Bako Barji for Plateau Central, Simon Bako Lalong for Plateau South Senatorial District.
The senatorial primary results also produced major upsets as two serving senators from Plateau State — Diket Plang and Pam Dachung — failed to secure the party’s tickets for another term.
Despite heavy security presence around the APC secretariat in Jos, supporters of victorious aspirants gathered in celebration shortly after the announcement of the results.
BusinessDay reports that party faithful and observers monitored the exercise closely amid heightened political tension surrounding the APC primaries in the state.
The primaries are expected to shape the political landscape in Plateau State as parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
