The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, on Sunday, expressed concerns over alleged plans to rig results from two wards in Kuje Area Council, following delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, in announcing the results.

Ini Ememobong, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, in a statement, said the fears follows the marginal lead the party currently enjoys, over other parties, in the election.

According to the party ” This delay has raised apprehension because of the marginal lead that the Peoples Democratic Party has there, which we are aware is under the threat of being manipulated using security forces.”

The party therefore , called on the Chairman of INEC to immediately order the announcement of the results in Kuje Central and Kabi Wards, as ” most of them have been posted on the IREV.”

The PDP had over the years enjoyed the support of the people at the Area Council, where it had produced the immediate part four Chairmen, back-to-back.

The outgoing Chairman, Mohammed Sabo is also said to have performed creditably well, especially in development of rural infrastructure, such as roads

The PDP said the “Election results must remain a true reflection of the votes of the people; anything less invalidates the entire process”

The party also called on INEC to “uphold the sanctity of the ballot”, by releasing the results.
