Buhari commends Omo-Agege for his doggedness in politics

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday commended the dogged nature of the Deputy President of the Senate saying that he is a loyal and dedicated APC member who has given his all to the party.
Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President Buhari who said this at the Thanksgiving service of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, Effurun, Delta State, noted that Omo-Agege will rise higher in politics.
Osinbajo said, “He is very courageous as a politician. He has earned the trust of all us at the party. He is someone who is very reliable and loyal to the party. I am very much convince that he will rise higher in politics.
On his part, Senator Omo-Agege who thanked God for making him what he is today promised to work with President Muhammadu Buhari and ensure that the country moves forward.
He said, “We all know that it’s God that does everything, but we know that God cannot come down and do things by himself for us. He uses people to help us and that is my story. God has used many people to help me get to this position.
“I will be guided by what is godly, just, and I will do the things that will what brings us together as one nation. Only the President cannot surmount the challenges we are facing in this country. We will support Mr President to ensure that we surmount the challenges we are facing in this country.”
In his brief remark, the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan assured Nigerians that the National Assembly will work closely with the Executive arm of government to push the Nation forward.
He said, “We are here to thank God for our colleague and also for ourselves. Today the Senate is one family. We believe that this is necessary for peace to reign in the country. Elections have come and gone and now is time for us to face governance. We are going to work with the president to make Nigeria great.
“Like the Reverend father said, we must continue to pray and work harmoniously with the executive arm. Those who created the arms of government did not create it so that we can be fighting each other.
“We will continue to support President Buhari in the area of security. Our work is to make Nigeria greater. I want to assure all that there is peace in the Senate.”
The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in his speech commended the deputy Senate President for recognizing God as the giver of life.
He said, “It is only God that made it possible for all us to be where we are today. He who gives praise to the Lord magnify his name.
“A lot have been learnt from what the Reverend father said. This means that there is so much to be done. Your passion is that ok service and we want to appeal to those of your in the national assembly to bring your service to Delta Central.
Those present at the occasion are Boss Mustapha, Governors Nyesom Wike, Nasiru El-Rufai, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Hope Uzodinma of Delta Jigawa, Rivers, Kaduna and Imo States.
Others are the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Timipre Silva, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senate George Akume and former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State.
Senators Ibikunle Amosun, James Manager, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh (NDDC, EDP), Rev. Francis Waive, and many others.
Also in attendance were creme of traditional rulers from Delta State including 103-year-old chairman of the Forum of Urhobo Traditional Rulers and Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM Ovie Ogbon, Ogoni 1, Orodje of Okpe, Olu of Warri, Ovie of Uvwie, Ovie of Agbon, Ovie of Agbarha-Otor and others.
