Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been cleared by the All Progressives Congress to seek a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kano State.
The clearance followed the governor’s successful screening by the party’s National Working Committee after submitting his nomination and screening forms, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The screening exercise was conducted at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge in Abuja and led by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who said Governor Yusuf met all constitutional and party requirements to contest for another term.
The party subsequently declared Yusuf the sole aspirant for the APC governorship ticket in Kano State ahead of the 2027 poll.
Reacting to the development, the governor thanked the party leadership for what he described as the confidence reposed in him, pledging to sustain policies aimed at promoting peace, economic growth and inclusive development across the state.
Yusuf also urged party members and supporters to remain united and work collectively towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 election.
