Usman Ahmed, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP governorship candidate in Bauchi State, has predicted that the 2027 Governor will be determined through credible election, rather than the influence of any godfather, or incumbency factor.

Ahmed, fielding questions from Journalists in Abuja, on Thursday, after a successful clinching the party’s flag, dismissed fears that the current political crisis in the party will work against his candidature in the 2027 election.

When reminded that he will be confronting other strong candidates, including the one backed by incumbent, Governor Bala Mohamed, he noted that history did not favour incumbency factor in determining successors.

He described the people of Bauchi as ” always wise, and several times, in fact, from the history of the state, there has never been a governor that was able to install a successor in the state.”

” So the chances are clear, and the coast is clear for the opposition to win.

Ahmed who described politics as “dynamic”, stressed that 2027; election will be different.

” It is the only time when at least we have like seven or eight political parties, all contesting for the governorship election.

“Usually the trend has been only two parties, a two-horse race, and it is either the winning party or the opposition. But this is the only election where you have at least seven different candidates from different parties. That is my added advantage”

He commended Nyesom Wike for helping to stabilise the PDP.

” All the other parties are enmeshed in deep crisis. After the primaries, there are lots of defections and most people are coming back to us. And as I speak with you, many people that are even in government are willing to decamp into the PDP because of our stability and the potentials we have during the elections.

” I believe, we are all youths. So I think we are providing ourselves as potential candidates to help the youth restore the lost confidence they have in the polity.

He assured that his government will prioritise “job creation because that is what is causing lots of social crisis and the youth are nowhere to be found.
” So once we have this job creation, I believe that will cater for the unrest and social crisis that are affecting our economy.
