The leadership of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday presented the party’s nomination form to Yakubu Salihu Danladi, its governorship candidate.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony held in Ilorin, Sunday Fagbemi, the State Chairman of the party, explained that it was necessary for the state executive to formally present the nomination form to the governorship candidate for completion and submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following the ratification of his victory at the party’s primary by the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

“Before now, we conducted the primaries and produced winners for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship elections, but the National Headquarters directed that we should not make any announcement.

“The National Working Committee has reviewed all the processes, especially in cases where there were complaints. Those who had grievances presented them before the Appeal Committee, which thoroughly examined them. Having concluded the process, the NWC has now confirmed the party’s candidates.

“It is now our responsibility to hand over the nomination forms to the candidates for completion so they can be uploaded to the INEC portal. We have already done this at the party secretariat.

“The one we are formally presenting today is that of our governorship candidate, Yakubu Salihu Danladi. Therefore, on behalf of the National Chairman of our party, I hereby present this nomination form to our candidate,” Fagbemi said.

The presentation was greeted with loud applause from party elders, stakeholders, lawmakers, members of the State Executive Council, and thousands of supporters who attended the event.

In his acceptance remarks, Danladi, the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and the leadership of the APC at both the national and state levels for the confidence reposed in him to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.

He pledged to carry everyone along as the party prepares for the general election.

“We thank Almighty God, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the National Chairman of our party. We also appreciate the leader of the party in Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the state executives, and all our stakeholders.

“Reconciliation is already ongoing, as is customary after every party primary. The sixteen of us who contested knew that only one person would emerge as the winner, and now that a winner has emerged, it is our collective responsibility to unite and move the party forward. We will certainly carry everyone along.

“By the grace of God, the APC remains one united family, and we will become even stronger. We thank the people of Kwara State for their support. We will not disappoint them, and we pray that Almighty God continues to guide us,” he stated.
