Consensus, no fewer than seven House of Representatives aspirants in Ondo State, contesting in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, allegedly adopted as “consensus” by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa have been disqualified.

APC released the list of the disqualified aspirants in a statement signed on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Those affected are; Tajudeen Adefisoye of the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency; Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo for Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency; Rt. The statement titled “Screened and Disqualified House of Representatives Aspirants” read: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases the list of House of Representatives aspirants who participated in the screening exercise but were not cleared to participate in the House of Representatives Primary Election.

“The screening exercise was conducted by the Party’s Screening Committees in line with established procedures and guidelines.”

BusinessDay reports that seven aspirants from Ondo State were listed as “Not Cleared” by the party’s national screening committee.

Ondo State recorded the highest number of disqualified aspirants on the list released by the party, ahead of states.

However, the exclusion of the prominent aspirants from the race has already generated political confusion in the state, especially where consensus arrangements were said to have been delicately negotiated to avoid divisive contests.
