The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday alleged that the 10.99 million votes recorded by President Bola Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary were part of a strategy to manipulate the 2027 general election.
Tinubu emerged as the APC presidential candidate after polling 10,999,967 votes in the party’s nationwide direct primary conducted across 8,809 wards. His only challenger, Stanley Osifo, secured 16,504 votes.
Reacting in a statement on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the figures as an “unbelievable concoction” designed to prepare Nigerians for alleged electoral manipulation ahead of 2027.
“It is recognisable for what it truly represents; a subtle attempt to set the stage and condition Nigerians for the kind of fantastic rigging being planned by the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections,” the party said.
The ADC also criticised Tinubu’s administration over worsening economic hardship, rising inflation, insecurity and poverty, arguing that millions of Nigerians were enduring unprecedented suffering under current government policies.
According to the opposition party, businesses are collapsing under economic pressure while farmers can no longer safely access their farmlands because of banditry and violent attacks.
The ADC further accused the President of failing to address the country’s challenges while allegedly resorting to political grandstanding against the opposition.
“Nigerians are asking simple questions, “Why is food unaffordable? Why are businesses collapsing? Why are citizens increasingly unsafe?” the statement added.
The party insisted that Nigeria needed “competent leadership and compassionate governance” capable of reversing the nation’s economic and security challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
