The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State on Saturday announced the results of its House of Representatives primary election, with several prominent politicians and consensus candidates emerging across the state’s federal constituencies.
Among those declared winners were Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, son of elder statesman and former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Ango Abdullahi.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Primary Election Committee, Yakubu Hosseini, announced the results at the APC state secretariat in Kaduna, saying the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
In Zaria Federal Constituency, Abbas emerged unopposed with 930 votes.
“Right Honourable Abbas Tajudeen, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and returned elected as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency,” Hosseini declared.
In Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Amos Gwamna Magaji emerged through consensus after polling 1,930 votes.
For Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Samaila Abdul Suleiman secured victory with 3,049 votes, defeating Abdulaziz Abubakar Kaka, who scored 65 votes, and Abubakar Mahmoud, who polled 96 votes.
Hosseini said Suleiman, having fulfilled the party’s constitutional requirements and secured the highest number of votes, was duly returned as the APC candidate.
In Kaura Federal Constituency, Benjamin Gugong defeated Donatus Mathieu after polling 1,085 votes against Mathieu’s 255 votes.
The party also announced Mukhtar Zakarin Chiawai as consensus candidate for Kauru Federal Constituency with 1,750 votes.
Similarly, Felix Joseph Bagudu emerged winner for Kachia Federal Constituency with 1,580 votes, while Daniel Amos was declared winner for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency.
For Kagarko/Kachia Federal Constituency, Gabriel Salle also emerged victorious after meeting the party’s requirements.
Also announced during the exercise was the victory of Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, who polled 920 votes in his constituency’s contest.
Other successful aspirants included Muhammad Jallo, who scored 1,171 votes, and Bashir Suleiman Juntu, who secured 1,787 votes in their respective constituencies.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State APC Chairman, Atiku Sanke, formally accepted the results and declared the exercise concluded.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present at the venue with collated results from the various constituencies.
