The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has generated over N20 billion from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to aspirants seeking its tickets for various positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party officials told our correspondent that forms were sold to 2,980 aspirants contesting governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly positions.
However, our correspondent could not obtain a detailed breakdown of the number of aspirants who purchased nomination forms for each elective position ahead of the primaries. However, a back-of-the-napkin calculation helped the reporter arrive at the N20 billion figure.
In Kwara State, 16 governorship aspirants obtained nomination forms, while in Oyo State, six aspirants purchased forms to contest the party’s governorship ticket.

Similar trends were observed in several other states across the country, reflecting intense competition ahead of the primaries.
President Bola Tinubu and his lone challenger, Stanley Osifo, each purchased presidential forms at N100 million.
While 28 governorship seats, 109 senatorial seats, 360 House of Representatives seats and 991 state assembly seats are to be contested, several positions attracted multiple aspirants competing for a single ticket.
The development followed the collapse of consensus arrangements among aspirants in many states, leading to increased revenue generation from form sales.
BusinessDay reports that the APC fixed its expression of interest and nomination forms at N100 million for the presidency, N50 million for governorship, N20 million for the Senate, N10 million for the House of Representatives and N5million for state assembly positions.
However, concessions were granted to youths, women and persons with disabilities.

The party sold the forms between April 25 and May 6, 2026, after extending the deadline twice.
BusinessDay reports that the APC generated higher revenue from the sale of forms in 2022 ahead of the 2023 general elections, recording close to N30 billion.
An analysis showed that the increase was driven by the high number of presidential aspirants who purchased forms at N100 million each.
Sulaiman Argungu told journalists in Abuja at the time that 145 aspirants bought governorship forms, 351 obtained senatorial forms, while 1,197 purchased House of Representatives forms. He added that 28 presidential aspirants also obtained forms ahead of the 2023 polls.
