2019: Only Atiku can salvage Nigeria- Lagos campaign coordinator

Atiku-2

Abimbola Ogunkelu, coordinator of Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign organisation in Lagos State, has said that only former the Vice-President of the country and presidential candidate of the main opposition, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), could salvage Nigeria from the current woes bedevilling it.

Ogunkelu stated this over the weekend, at the campaign secretariat in Fadeyi, during the launching of Conference of United Political Party (CUPP) in the state. He stressed that the PDP candidate had drawn out clear plans on how to move the country forward.

Ogunkelu, a former Minister of integration, under former presidednt Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, stated that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the administration of Muhammadu Buhari had failed the nation.

He further stated that the PDP was aware of the rigging plans of the APC in the forthcoming election.

According to him, AtiKu is the best man to lead Nigeria; and he has clear plans and vision to lead the country forward, pointing out that the PDP candidate had clearly presented that. “The people of Lagos are tired of APC and they would come massively and vote for the PDP and Atiku,” he said.

He noted however that INEC would no longer follow the electoral law of 2015, under which voters are accredited first before they vote. Instead, the electoral body now want voters to do the accreditation and Voting at the same time, he noted.

“We have rejected that; let Nigerians be accredited and they come back to vote, through that we can know the number of people accredited and the total votes. Ogunkelu said.

Speaking further, the campaign coordinator said the inauguration of CUPP in Lagos state would aid the electoral victory of Atiku in the presidential election.

Chairman of CUPP in the state, Tunde Daramola, said that the inauguration of the chapter in the state was to ensure effective mobilisation of Nigerians ahead of the election, stressing that the group would work as a unit to defeat the APC in the presidential election.

Daramola, who is also the state chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that adequate logistics and enlightenment would be provided for the party chairmen to effectively deliver their constituencies in the state.

According to him, the leaders were happy that the inaugurations, which have been in the works, were finally done. “CUPP was initially 38 parties, but today I can tell you we have fifty parties, with this the citizens and residents are going to be better for it. With this we are going to spoil the rigging plan of APC,’’ he said.

“The party chairmen have all pledged their loyalty to Atiku, but we are going to bring them back and enlighten about the modalities,” Daramola explained.
