NBA Lagos partners with Uber to ease transportation for lawyers

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch has announced a strategic partnership with Uber, a leading ride-hailing service provider, to provide a 50% discount on rides for lawyers commuting to and from key legal institutions across Lagos. This initiative aims to alleviate the cost of transportation for legal practitioners, ensuring reliable and affordable travel to major courts and institutions frequented by lawyers.

Eligible locations for the discount are as follows:

• Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island

• Ikeja High Court, GRA

• Lagos State High Court, TBS Onikan

• Lagos State High Court, Osborne Ikoyi

• Lagos State High Court, Ajah

• Lagos State High Court, Sabo, Yaba

• Court of Appeal, Igbosere

• Federal High Court, Ikoyi

• National Industrial Court, Ikoyi

• Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa

This partnership ensures that lawyers can access major locations more conveniently and at a lower cost.

How the Discount Works

• Lawyers will be able to receive 50% off the cost of up to 50 UberX trips within the promotional period.

• Each discounted ride is capped at N2,000, meaning eligible lawyers will still need to cover any remaining fare beyond this limit.

• The maximum total discount available per user during phase 1 of this offer is N100,000. Phase 1 is expected to last from February 2025 to June 2025 with a possibility of a renewal.

• The discount applies only to UberX rides and does not cover additional fees such as tolls or surcharges.

This initiative would allow lawyers to focus on their work without the added burden of high commuting expenses.

As at the time of this publication, it is gathered that over 1200 lawyers in lagos state have subscribed to this initiative of the NBA, Lagos Branch, popularly referred to as the Premier Bar.

The Executive Committee of the NBA, Lagos Branch, under the leadership of Mr. Olabisi Makanjuola stated that the partnership is expected to provide succour to members of the Branch in carrying out their services under the current harsh economic reality.

The Publicity Secretary of the Branch, Omoniyi Onabule, also noted that the partnership agreement has been executed between Uber and the Branch, and in fact, some members have started enjoying the discount. He said members are advised to take full opportunity of the partnership before the end of June 2025.
