Linklaters loses Asia-based Carlyle relationship partner to White & Case

The partner who manages Linklaters’ relationship with private equity house Carlyle Group in Asia has left the firm to take up a partnership at White & Case.

Peggy Wang, who was promoted into Linklaters’ partnership in 2011 (11 April 2011), will join the US firm’s Hong Kong office in April.

A private equity specialist, Wang has been instrumental in forging Linklaters’ relationship with Carlyle, which uses a number of firms including Clifford Chance, Debevoise & Plimpton and Latham & Watkins.

Her move comes a year and a half after fellow Linklaters partners Ian Bagshaw and Richard Youle, who drove Linklaters to muscle in on their former firm Clifford Chance’s relationship with Carlyle (24 September 2012), also made the move to White & Case (17 October 2013).

Alongside partner Christopher Kelly, Wang led the team that advised Carlyle on its 2011 investment in Hong Kong-listed Haier Electronics (3 October 2011).

White & Case’s regional section head for Asia, Barrye Wall, said that Wang’s experience “will be a valuable asset as we continue to broaden our M&A client base across Asia and expand our role advising corporates, private equity firms and financial institutions”.
