The Association of Law Firm Administrators Nigeria (ALAN) marked a historic milestone with its inaugural Gala and Awards Night, held at the Civic Centre, Lagos. The event, hailed by industry observers as a turning point in the professionalization of law firm management, brought together the nation’s leading legal and business minds.

Far beyond a social celebration, the Gala spotlighted the often-overlooked professionals who ensure law firms remain stable, competitive, and future-ready. Practice Managers, Chief Operating Officers, Human Resources leaders, Finance and Accounts experts, IT heads, and Business Development specialists were recognized for their critical contributions.

In her welcome address, ALAN President, Mrs. Odunola Onadipe, described the gathering as “a historic convergence of the brightest minds, dedicated professionals, and visionary leaders shaping the business of law in Nigeria.” The audience included Senior Advocates of Nigeria, founding and managing partners, legal luminaries, and key figures from the administrative and business support ecosystem. “For too long, the voices of those who support the business of law were unheard. Tonight, that changes,” Mrs. Onadipe declared.

The evening’s central theme was excellence, with awards honoring leadership, innovation, service delivery, and the building of sustainable, high-performing firms. The President praised administrative and business support professionals for raising industry standards through operational efficiency, strategic thinking, and people-focused leadership.

The Gala also served as a moment of reflection, with tributes paid to pioneers who laid the groundwork for law firm administration in Nigeria before it was formally recognized as a profession. Their diligence and sacrifice, attendees were reminded, underpin today’s growing community of practice managers and operations leaders.

Mrs. Onadipe urged law firm leaders to embrace deeper collaboration between legal and business leadership, noting that “a law firm is strongest when its legal expertise and business leadership stand side by side.” She pointed to global best practices where such synergy drives resilience and performance.

As trailblazers and exceptional leaders received awards, the evening reinforced new professional standards anchored in excellence, respect, collaboration, and shared leadership.

The night concluded with a reaffirmation of ALAN’s core values: integrity, professionalism, innovation, and service and a renewed commitment to strengthening the business of law in Nigeria by giving every professional in the legal ecosystem a voice, a platform, and a pathway to leadership.
