For the average Nigerian student, challenges go well beyond lectures and exams. With tuition fees climbing and post-graduation jobs uncertain, students need more than just classroom learning to get ahead.
To meet those needs, fintech provider Moremonee — Africa’s first Gen Z-focused bank with a clear mission to support young people — has launched the Moremonee Students Community. MSC is a digital-first platform built just for Nigerian students, bringing together financial aid, peer networking, and career development in one place. See video here.
With this move, Moremonee is stepping beyond payments and positioning itself as a partner in students’ academic and professional growth.
Recognising that financial strain is a major cause of academic setbacks, the Moremonee Students Community offers members access to flexible student loans designed to cover school fees, research projects and student-led businesses, with repayment plans tailored to students’ financial realities.
The platform is also introducing a scholarship and educational grants scheme, including merit-based awards for high-performing students and need-based support for those facing financial hardship, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder academic progress.
Beyond financial support, the MSC focuses on long-term development. It features a learning and development hub with a catalogue of video-based courses covering high-demand areas such as technology, finance and life skills.
To bridge the gap between school and the workplace, Moremonee has pledged to prioritise community members for job opportunities, considering them first for both full-time and part-time roles. This is complemented by entrepreneurship training, where industry experts will mentor students through online sessions and physical seminars across campuses.
The platform also introduces a referral earnings programme, allowing members to earn ₦500 for every successful referral using a unique code, with the potential to earn up to ₦200,000 monthly without a cap.
A leaderboard system will track active and outstanding members, with top performers given opportunities to become official Moremonee campus ambassadors and receive branded essentials such as bags, journals and starter kits to support their studies.
Registration is designed to be seamless and can be completed in under two minutes via the portal. Once registered, users can begin accessing earning opportunities, learning resources and networking with students across universities.
Moremonee’s operations have received recognition within the financial sector. The company was recently named Innovative Firm of the Year at the African Development and Industrial Awards and also won Best Savings Fintech App at the Legit Business Awards.
With the launch of the MSC, Moremonee aims to redefine how corporate organisations support the education sector by combining financial tools with career development opportunities, positioning the platform as a key digital resource for Nigerian students.
