The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has said that it will continue to prioritise service excellence despite receiving 2.85% of Nigeria’s total electricity generation.

Speaking at a media engagement, which took place at the YEDC Headquarters in Yola, Adamawa State attended by journalists from various media outlets, YEDC noted that the operational efficiency would enhance power supply within its coverage areas, including Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe and Borno States in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

Masuod Salisu, Head of Regulatory and Compliance at YEDC, in his presentation, entitled “Nigerian Electricity Distribution Industry and Understanding Value Chain”, highlighted the company’s vision, mission and commitment to efficient electricity distribution.

He maintained that media engagement with journalists in Adamawa State aimed to enhance effective communication which is ultimately to improve service delivery to customers.

Masuod, further briefed journalists on the company’s achievements and challenges, highlighting the efforts being made to improve power supply and customer service, noting that YEDC had invested heavily in upgrading its infrastructure.

Also speaking on Strengthening Customer Relations and Safety Awareness, Nafisa Hamid, YEDC’s Head of Customer Care, emphasised the company’s proactive approach to engaging customers and addressing concerns, ensuring a transparent and user-friendly experience.

She stressed that journalists are the eyes and ears of the society and also have the responsibility of educating the general public, hence the need for the engagement.

Haruna Adamu, YEDC’s Health, Safety, and Environment Officer, advised the public on electrical safety measures, urging consumers to avoid uncertified electricians, conduct regular electrical inspections, and maintain a safe distance from power lines to prevent hazards.
