Amaka Ezekiel, a barrister and the MD/CEO of FAV Multiservices Ltd, has urged women to take bold and decisive action towards growth, ownership, and lasting impact.
She made this call while speaking at the JCI Victoria Island International Women’s Day Celebration held recently.
Speaking on the theme ‘From Awareness to Action – Empowering Women for Ownership, Growth & Impact,’ she aligned her message with the global call for rights, justice and action for all women and girls, emphasizing that awareness on its own is not sufficient to drive real change.
She described the theme as a call to action, challenging women to transition from knowledge to execution, and stressing that awareness without action ultimately yields no results.
In a compelling address rooted in both conviction and personal experience, Ezekiel urged women to rethink how they engage with their rights and opportunities.
She emphasised that while understanding one’s rights is important, true transformation comes from actively exercising those rights, noting that access alone is not enough without corresponding action.
She further observed that many women are held back not by a lack of opportunity, but by hesitation, fear, and the habit of waiting for the perfect moment, underscoring that growth is driven by movement and intentional steps, not delay.
Drawing from her personal journey, Amaka, who is also a former senior registrar at the Federal High Court, recounted how a simple act of kindness during her National Youth Service became a defining moment in her career.
From securing a role within the Federal High Court system to building discipline despite modest earnings, she demonstrated how consistency, resilience, and intentional self-development can shape long-term success.
Her eventual transition from civil service into entrepreneurship, she explained, was fuelled by a desire for greater impact and independence. Today, she has built a thriving agribusiness with multiple branches in Ajah, Lagos, positioning FAV Multiservices Ltd as a growing player in the sector.
She highlighted that her journey was not without challenges, including limited capital, operational hurdles, and moments of doubt, but emphasized that she chose action over fear, taking deliberate steps forward even without having all the answers.
Ezekiel also outlined practical pathways for women seeking to move from awareness to action. These include adopting a growth-oriented mindset, starting with available resources rather than waiting for ideal conditions, remaining consistent in delivering value, and taking full ownership of personal growth and outcomes.
She made a strong case for increased female participation in leadership and decision-making, encouraging women to reject self-doubt, step into positions of influence, and take responsibility for shaping their own narratives.
In her closing remarks, she called on women to convert inspiration into measurable action, emphasizing that while rights amplify voice, it is consistent action that delivers results and builds lasting legacy.
Her message resonated strongly with attendees, reinforcing the central takeaway of the event: that true empowerment is not found in awareness alone, but in the courage to act, the discipline to stay consistent, and the commitment to create impact.
