…says Bauchi governor is politically inconsistent

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor as politically inconsistent and dishonest, citing his shifting positions on party and presidential matters.

Wike said Bala Mohammed approached him ahead of the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, requesting the position of PDP National Secretary for his faction a request Wike said was declined.

The FCT Minister also recalled that in 2022, Bala Mohammed asked for support for Bola Tinubu, then the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, in the 2023 election, only to backtrack days later. “This shows the unstable character of Governor Mohammed,” Wike said.

Speaking during an inspection of ongoing road and bridge projects in Jahi and Kuje, Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work. The projects, including the Jahi–Gwarimpa link, Airport Expressway Kuje stretch, and Kuje–Gwagwalada road, are expected to be commissioned to mark President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Wike dismissed allegations that he was planted to undermine the PDP, calling them “embarrassing, baseless and a product of an inconsistent mindset.”

“It’s very embarrassing. He says one thing in the morning, and another in the afternoon. But we are happy he has shown Nigerians who he is unstable and unreliable,” Wike added.

He mocked Bala Mohammed’s demand for the PDP National Secretary position, saying: “You’re already conquered. You lost. You talk from a weak point and demand Secretary? That is not done.”

Wike praised the recent PDP convention, saying it silenced doubters who predicted the party’s collapse. “The convention has shown that the PDP is alive and kicking. Yes, there are minor issues, but we will fix them,” he said.

He also warned Nigerians about inconsistent politicians, noting that some “say one thing today and another tomorrow.”

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP while maintaining support for the President, Wike said: “I will not leave the PDP, but I will continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That has been my position since 2022, unlike those who flip-flop publicly.”
