Why I’m interested in helping young Nigerians acquire skills – Omoraro

A digital expert, George Omoraro, has revealed plans to establish a virtual skills-acquisition centre.

Omoraro, who is the chief executive officer of Rage Media, said the centre would train thousands of youths in skills acquisition, put food on their tables and take them off the streets.

According to him, the aim is “to empower youths across several locations, including the South-Eastern region, where youths are mainly inclined in trade and business acumen”.

“Those who have the passion to acquire skills should be encouraged. If not for such encouragement, I would not have been where I am today. So, every little opportunity that comes my way, I try to maximise it to give back to the very society that has made me,” Omoraro said.

“I have been involved in building different brands in Nigeria and building of websites for them. Whatever involves technology, you will find George Omoraro willing to contribute. I had started a digital agency for Bluebird called Digiengage which is still in operation today,” he said.

Omoraro said part of his routine work is to go to conferences to present papers and see young minds who are eager to learn and be a part of a success story.

“We must encourage people like these who are desirous of putting their hands to work. A lot of youths reach out to me and I try to assist in several ways.

“But no matter how much I do, it still won’t be enough, which is the force driving me to push for an opening of a virtual skills centre where people will be taught how to fish with their hands and be productive to themselves, then try to help others too,” he said.
