We’ll complete major projects this year, says Sanwo-Olu at thanksgiving service
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says his administration will complete and hand over for public use some major infrastructure in the state this year.
One of such projects, BusinessDay gathered, is the flyover bridge being constructed at Pen Cinema, in Agege area of the state.
The flyover project which was started by the previous administration in the state is aimed at addressing road congestion that has been the headache of motorists and residents of the Agege Pen Cinema axis of Nigeria’s commercial city.
Sanwo-Olu spoke on Sunday, at the annual new year thanksgiving service of the Lagos State government. The event attracted about 350 physical participants while over 1,000 others joined virtually in line with Covid-19 protocols that disallow large gatherings.

The governor listed some of the projects to include the 52 tons per hour Imota Rice Mill in Ikorodu, Glover Memorial Hall in Marina, Ariyo (Mile 10) – Ira-Muwo Bridge phase 1 road in Ojo, and the remodelled Youth Centre in Abesan, Ipaja.

On the thanksgiving service, Sanwo-Olu said it was important to return all glory to God for seeing the state through despite the turbulent challenges witnessed in 2020.
“There is no doubt that when we cast our minds back and reflect deeply on all that transpired in the just concluded year 2020, we would see very clearly that our God is indeed faithful and worthy of all our praise and our thanksgiving. Indeed, if it had not been for the Lord who was on our side, the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul. Our help is indeed in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), represented by J.T Kalejaiye, also a pastor in RCCG, in his sermon, admonished people to imbibe the attitude of thanking God in all situations.
“Let gratitude be your attitude because an attitude of gratitude takes one to a higher altitude. Very few people love to give thanks. When we pray, we get God informed. However, when we give thanks, we get God involved,” he said.
