VFS Global, in association with the Embassy of Japan in Abuja, Nigeria, will open the Japan Visa Application Centres in Abuja and Lagos on Monday.
The company stated in a statement that both centres would accept document submissions for short-term and long-term visas to Japan, by prior appointment.
Alok Singhal, head, Sub Saharan Africa, VFS Global, said that the company had shared a long-standing relationship with the Government of Japan since 2010.
According to him, the centres will play a crucial role in effectively catering to the growing demand for travel to Japan, which he considers one of the most popular destinations in the world.
“We are confident that these visa application centres will enhance customer experience by making the visa application process even more smooth and seamless, thereby helping us better serve travellers from Nigeria. Appointments will be available online at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/jpn,” Singhal said.

According to Singhal, the introduction of Japan visa services for Nigerian residents by VFS Global will offer applicants optional services such as SMS, photocopy, photo booth, courier services, printing, internet kiosk, and premium lounge among others.
He noted that applicants must attend the visa application appointment in person and arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment to avoid missing their slot. “Only applicants and one parent/caregiver accompanying a child under 18 years are permitted to enter the visa application centre,” Singhal said.
According to him, VFS Global has been a trusted partner for the government of Japan in visa processing services since 2010. He said that the company offers visa services on behalf of Japan in 13 countries across the globe through a network of 38 visa application centres.
“VFS Global’s role in the visa application process is limited to front-end administrative tasks only, which include collecting visa application forms and required documentation as per the checklist.
“Global has no role in the decision-making process of granting or refusing a visa. Decision-making on the granting or refusal of a visa is the sole prerogative and sole responsibility of the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria”, he said.
