Uzodinma appoints Orjiako, Ogwudire as special advisers

Imo Assembly mandates Uzodinma to sack Chief Judge over alleged age falsification

Few days after the dissolution of his cabinet, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has announced fresh appointments for the second term of four years.

Recall that the governor, while being sworn in for the second term recently, said: “Success recorded in the last four years of his administration will certainly be dwarfed by the success that would be recorded in the second term.”

According to him, to make it happen, “It demands that fresh persons, ideas and enthusiasm be taken into consideration.”

He also hinted that those who would be directly involved in the new administration or tangentially involved would have cause to be proud of being part of his government.

Consequently, he has appointed Umunna Humphrey Orjiako as Special Liaison Adviser, Abuja.

Orjiako is a retired foremost Foreign Service officer and was a one-time ambassador to Switzerland Liechtenstein with concurrent accreditation as Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations Office and other international organisations at Geneva.

Credited with invaluable global outreach and capacity at high levels of bilateral and multilateral international governance and cooperation, Orjiako, it is said, in the course of his career pursuit, served as director to four former ministers in Nigeria , namely Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Joy Ogwu, the late Ojo Maduekwe and Odein Ajumogobia (SAN).

Orjiako hails from Ehime Mbano, Imo State, he was educated at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), the University of Lagos (Unilag) and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Medford, Massachusetts.

He joined the Foreign Service in 1980, worked within and outside the country like Spain, Sweden/the Nordic countries, Belgium/Luxembourg, the United States of America among others, and retired meritoriously after 35 years of service.

The governor also appointed Kingsley Ogwudire as Special Adviser, Diaspora Sports.

Ogwudire is a former professional basketball player. His appointment like Humphrey Orjiako’s, took effect immediately.

Ogwudire, a highly accomplished senior executive officer and advisor with over 19 years of triumph in sports, banking and organisational operations, also has a remarkable career in the Nigerian Basketball Association (NBA) and other international teams.

A strategic leader with proven track record in financial management, operations and entrepreneurial ventures, Ogwudire is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of XCEPTION LLC, an outfit with which he pioneers innovative platforms to transform the athletic recruitment and fundraising landscape of the country, particularly Imo State.

Ogwudire is currently spearheading an unprecedented Football and Basketball Showcase in Owerri, the Imo State capital, an activity that aims to identify and select promising young ones, aged 14 to 19, nurture their talents for potential scholarship opportunities in American schools as well as provide a pathway for aspiring athletes to pursue both their athletic and academic dreams.

He is 52 years and studied Business Administration at Montana State University, Northern, Havre, Montana, and Foothill College, Los Altos, CA.
