The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has dismissed reports alleging that Hope Uzodimma, Imo State governor, was removed as chairman of the forum following an emergency meeting of governors in Abuja.
The denial came amid widespread speculation after reports emerged Thursday night claiming that governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had voted to oust Uzodimma over alleged financial mismanagement and dissatisfaction with his leadership style.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, the PGF described the reports as “false, baseless and misleading”, insisting that no such decision was taken.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms alleging the removal of its chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement said.

The forum stressed that no meeting was convened where the removal of the Imo State governor was discussed or approved.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless and without an iota of truth,” it added.
According to the statement, the secretariat of the forum had no knowledge of any resolution seeking to remove Uzodimma from office.
“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” Aluko stated.
The forum also reassured members of the APC and the public that the governors remain united and committed to advancing the policies of the ruling party.
