James Akinwande, a UK-based Nigerian, has purchased a new pair of shoes and a wristwatch to replace items allegedly stolen from Kemi Badenoch’s brother by officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Badenoch, the leader of the UK’s Conservative Party and a prominent British politician, recently alleged during an interview that some NPF officers stole her brother’s shoes and wristwatch. She did not specify when the incident occurred but remarked, “Giving people a gun is just a licence to intimidate.”

Born Olukemi Adegoke to Nigerian Yoruba parents in the UK, Badenoch spent part of her childhood in Nigeria before returning to the UK at age 16. Her last name changed after marrying a Scottish banker.

Badenoch’s remarks about Nigeria and its institutions have continued to polarise opinions. While some see her critiques as valid, others argue that her statements unfairly tarnish the image of the country and its people.

In a widely circulated video, Akinwande, who identifies himself as a legal representative and manager to Nigerian comedian Kenny Blaq, visited a store in the UK to buy a pair of shoes and a wristwatch as replacements for the items Badenoch claimed were stolen.

After purchasing the items, Akinwande headed to the UK Conservative Party headquarters, where he handed them over to security personnel, intending them for Badenoch.

The video has garnered attention on social media, with many Nigerians debating Badenoch’s comments and Akinwande’s response.

Akinwande, whose Instagram profile describes him as a golfer and international manager, has also worked with notable Nigerian celebrities such as AY Makun and Woli Arole.
